Arganil became our new home.

Over the next 25 years, we got to know Portugal in a way that few foreigners do. Not as tourists, but as residents. It is a place where we welcome guests as we would welcome friends. The place to share our knowledge of and love for Portugal with you. We live on the site ourselves, so if you need anything, there is always someone nearby.

I (Winy) am a certified walking guide and I know (almost) all the walking trails and beautiful spots in the area. I have mapped out dozens of routes in the Serra do Açor nature reserve. From a peaceful morning stroll to longer walks for experienced hikers. You can find all the routes on my Wikiloc page, and a number of them start right from your holiday bungalow.

I’d also be happy to tell you where to find the prettiest river beaches, and which local restaurant serves the best Portuguese food.

Welcome to our place, welcome home.

In 1999, Wouter and I moved to Portugal with our two young children.
